I’m not passionate about the industry I’m in.
I’m not passionate about my current job.
I’m not passionate about my career path.
I hear these “I’m not” statements all the time from people who think that the elusive dream job on the horizon will finally fill their passion cup to the brim, but here’s the reality…
There’s no such thing as a perfect job. Every job requires you to work hard, deal with difficult people, and work on tasks that suck – These are inescapable facts that we try to cover up by believing that the perfect job exists on the horizon, but it rarely does.
What I’ve found over the past 20 years is that the passion for the role is less important than working with great people and that that gratitude and perspective go a long way when it comes to increasing job satisfaction.
